I was brought in for the second album "All God Does". Brian, Mitch, and Chris had already solidified an outstanding sound based in faith. When I came into Trout Studios to record my parts, I was amazed at the sound that the band had created for this album. While my contribution was fairly minor(lead guitar tracks), it was an honor to be asked to record this.
One of the things that I found to be alot of fun was my fairly extensive use of the major scale in the music. With guidance from all the members of Sweet Absolution and alot of work at home to refine my parts, I believe that the Holy Spirit guided my note selection and phrasing to be a very joyful contribution to "All God Does". I would like to thank God, Brian, Mitch, and Chris for allowing me to be a part of this very special and blessed album. To all those that enjoy the music and the message, I am very happy that you like what you hear. I hope that this album moves you as much as it did me.
God Bless all of you.

The albums "Sweet Absolution" and "All God Does" were written and recorded in the Florida panhandle between 2000 and 2003 in Trout Studios. Many thanks to Chris Flynn, Staten "Mitch" Rall, & Mark Givens for their hard work in making these albums become a reality.

The three years it took to bring these two albums together were times of awe and wonder. Sweet Absolution was recorded in a humble shelter just behind a home near the beautiful Cinco Bayou of Fort Walton Beach, Florida and All God Does was recorded not too far from there in a newer studio where friends brought together brilliant musical idea's which allowed us to share the faith in a new exciting way through music. It is our hope that these melodies will bring you the joy of the truth. May God be praised and honored for this music is really His music. We are humbled to be able to share it with those who choose to sing His praises with us. Thank you for your support! |

A little back-story first: Mitch & I, plus a few friends from church, had already recorded our first two cassette tape releases. Technology has changed radically since those days. When Mitch brought Brian over to the house, we started a partnership and friendship that is starting its tenth year.
Brian’s songs are catchy, spiritually clear and musically allowed for some great harmonies. We recorded “Sweet Absolution” on a four track cassette. Brian and Mitch’s harmonies are the icing on those songs. A couple of years later we started on “All God Does”. This time with an eight track deck. We had everything that we wanted. We were able to branch out into musical styles and techniques not available to us previously. In addition to Mark Given’s great guitar work, we were able to have Julie Francis, a great vocalist and songwriter herself, and my daughter Jennifer add vocals and flute to “All God Does” join us. The CD is blessed by fabulous original artwork from Pam Reddick.
I earned the nick name “many hats” by playing guitars, bass and keyboards, doing the recording and engineering for both of Brian’s releases. Several songs, “Sweet Absolution” and “Christ is the Same” are in the praise music rotation at the church I attend, while “All God Does” has been recorded on progressive rock’s “Ad Astra’s” first release “Beyond Our Bounds”.
“Sweet Absolution” has Brian’s daughters on “Guardian Angel Song”, while “Peace from the Pieces” was used as the theme for Brian’s home town’s anniversary. “All God Does” is more of collaborative effort between Brian, Mitch and me. I can’t say enough good things about Mark’s guitar work on the release. Great job Mark! Mitch’s drumming and harmonies are top notch. He makes it look easy. Brian’s songs, vocals and guitar work are just fantastic. I have wonderful memories with both CDs, several songs were either written or finished around my kitchen table. I like the tongue-in-cheek of “He’s So Faithful”, the punch and theological directness that “When The Son of Man Comes” has and that we recorded “Oh Happy Fault” live in the studio.
I believe we’ll record a third project, God willing, if the U.S. Air Force ever brings Brian and his family back to the Gulf Coast. We had a lot of fun playing music at church carnivals, fairs and retreats. I know Brian’s music has touched the hearts of many people and I’m sure his music will be an encouragement and guide in whatever faith background you might have. If you don’t have a set, going ahead and pick them up, you won’t be disappointed. |

I first met Brian at a bible study class in 1993. We struck up a conversation about music, and that's all it took for us to start a friendship. We kept in contact and even tried forming a band with some of his dorm-mates at Eglin. A no-go project, but we still hung out and played guitar together.
A few years later, Brian had a dozen original songs written, and I was astounded at the variety of styles and depth of lyrical meaning in them.
The songs became his first album "Sweet Absolution".
One song called, More to This World, had been written at least a year earlier, and I always said he should record it. Soon he had a bunch to choose from.
Brian really dove into the recording process. We just followed the spirit of the songs, letting the words and voice be the primary focus. We let his spirit sing to the Lord. My favorite song is "No Greater Love"
On Brian's second album "All God Does" we tried out our first digital tape recorder and had a few more tracks to play with, adding extra vocals and instuments. Mark Givens doig lead on the electric guitar was also a great addition. He gave us the rock sound that some of the songs really needed. I think my favorite track on this cd is "Tender Mercy" for the challenging way we put it together with layers of intruments and vocals.
I also appreciate Brian letting me sing the title track, "All God Does"
God blessed us with patience and wisdom on these cds. Praise to the Father, the King of Glory!
